Higher ft Redskin

Fresh from a summer of high-profile festival shows, including Glastonbury, Beach Break Live and Beat Herder, Dr Meaker release their new single Higher on November 17th [2011].

This explosively infectious track builds on the Bristol-based collective’s highly acclaimed debut album A Lesson From The Speaker, an eclectic melting-pot of drum&bass, hip-hop, soul, reggae and jazz elements which saw them hailed as natural heirs to Bristol-scene ancestors like Massive Attack and Reprazent.

But Higher is another great leap forward, Dr Meaker’s most powerful anthem yet with its skillful fusion of liquid house beats, sinewy d&b rhythms, shuddering dubstep basslines and vivid brass fanfares, all swept along by Lorna King’s soaringly soulful voice.

An urgent call to the dancefloor, it combines the hyperkinetic energy of a classic rave track with the forward-thinking hybrid feel of contemporary British urban music. Warm-blooded and uplifting, Higher does exactly what it says on the tin.
